OUR NORTHERN IRELAND WEEKEND 2018

Thank you to all the families who joined us at our recent Northern Ireland family weekend, from Saturday 14th to Sunday 15th April. We had a fantastic weekend of fun activities, good food, and great conversation, hosted by CLDF support team and Todd’s Leap Activity Centre.

After welcoming everyone to the family weekend we started our activities with parents taking part in icebreakers, whilst the children took part in games and face painting arranged by the Todds Leap Team. New families were welcomed, getting together with other families in similar circumstances. This session was followed by a family treasure hunt, seeking out clues to hunt the treasure from around the centre. A well-earned lunch break prepared the families for the afternoon activities. Those brave enough took on the giant swing! The advice given before we were swung over was “Don’t look down!”

Keeping their feet on the ground, other groups gave Robin Hood a run for his money in an archery competition and tried to be the last man standing in total wipeout. Body zorbing was a bundle of laughs… especially for those watching!

It was hard to stay upright in the zorbs but they all did great!  And  Dads body zorbing challenge remained a highlight too.

Families returned to the centre for a well-earned refreshments and ended the afternoon taking part in some arts and craft activities making a family collage before settling into accommodation.

There was something for all ages at Todd’s Leap

The evening began with dinner, giving a chance for families to continue their conversations over evening meal. The evening disco was a chance for families to share experiences, have fun and make new friends and before heading to bed ready for day two.

Sunday started with a hearty breakfast before families took part in an off-road adventure around Todd’s Leap. Over lunch CLDF said their goodbyes and began the journey home. This had been a fantastic weekend and those who joined us said they had an amazing time…

What the families had to say

“This was our first CLDF event and it’s been amazing, meeting other families experiencing the same as ourselves.”

“It is always lovely to welcome new liver families and to meet with families we have already met and see how well their children are doing. It gives us a lot of hope.”

A big thank you to the staff from Todd’s Leap, who were very helpful and great fun. Above all, thanks to all the families who attended for making the journey, joining in the conversations, and being great company. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
