Five year-old Ada and her mum, Emma, have come up with a brilliant way to beat the lockdown blues and raise £2000 for CLDF with the February 20 mile challenge.
Ada is asking children to pledge to run 20 miles during February. It’s £5 per child to join the challenge and everyone who completes it will receive a medal and certificate.
“Lockdown in winter is tough,” explains Emma. “We thought this would be a great way of getting people outside for a short time each day and giving them something to aim for. We already have 160 children signed up from around the country with numbers going up all the time. Many are getting sponsored to do their 20 miles, which will boost our fundraising further. And because one of our local businesses, GlassHus Facades, has kindly covered the cost of our specially designed medals, every penny of the entry fee goes straight to CLDF.
“Twenty miles over a month isn’t a huge amount so we’re hoping as many children as possible will drag their parents off the sofa every day and pound those pavements for a fantastic cause!”
