Big Yellow Comedy Night to help fight childhood liver disease

By February 26, 2018 No Comments

A line up of first class comic talent is on offer at Altrincham’s Cinnamon Club this Friday March 2 as part of Big Yellow Friday Comedy Night. The evening is one of hundreds of events taking place around the UK to mark Big Yellow Friday, the national awareness and fundraising day of Children’s Liver Disease Foundation (CLDF).

Organised by Buzz Comedy, the evening will be compered by Nina Gilligan and include performances by Craig Deeley, Danny Pensive and Tudor Owen, all hugely popular on the national comedy circuit.

The Big Yellow Friday Comedy Night is the brainchild of local parents, Julie and Keith Algie from Hale, whose five year old son, Blair, was born with a rare liver disease and received a life-saving liver transplant four years ago.

“Blair has had, and continues to receive, fabulous care from the NHS, but hearing that your child has a life-threatening liver disease and then going through the transplant experience is truly scary and emotional,” explains Julie. “CLDF were there for us with information and emotional support every step of the way. We want every family in that situation to receive that support which is why we are joining in with Big Yellow Friday in this way.

“We have put on several comedy nights over the past few years and they have proved hugely popular and raised over £33,000 to date. We are hoping that this Friday’s event will be the best to date. We have been fortunate to have fantastic support from local businesses who have been very generous with raffle prizes so now we just want as many people as possible to come along and enjoy themselves, know they are supporting a fantastic cause!”

Alison Taylor, Chief Executive of CLDF added: “We are the only UK charity dedicated to fighting all forms of childhood liver disease, which we do by providing information to healthcare professionals, emotional support to families, funds for research and a voice for all affected. To do this we rely almost entirely on voluntary donations so Big Yellow Friday is a really important day for us. We are so grateful that Julie and Keith are joining in by planning another comedy night for us and wish them all a wonderful evening.”

The Big Yellow Friday Comedy Night takes place at the Cinnamon Club, Bowdon on Friday March 2 at 7.30pm. Bar is open until 1am. Tickets, priced £25 are available from juliealgie06@aol.com or keithalgie06@aol.com.

Anyone who cannot attend but would like to make a donation of £10 can do so by texting BYFC55 £10 to 70070.
