Starting or changing school is a big event for any child but when that child has a liver condition, there may be real concerns and anxiety from parents about how their child’s needs will be met.
It’s why we produce an education pack which tells schools, nurseries and colleges what they need to know about having a pupil or student who has a liver disease. We’re delighted to tell you that we have now updated our education pack to make it even more comprehensive for parents and teachers and to take into account the different provision for special educational needs in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
And just to show how valuable our families find the education packs, here is a comment from one mum who is preparing to send her little boy to nursery:
“The thought of him being cared for by anyone else terrifies me but we cannot afford for me to not work long term so that is a worry too. And we obviously want him to go to school and have a normal life, so your education pack is amazing as most people know nothing about caring for a transplanted immunosuppressed child”
