Dr Jake Mann: Identification of biomarkers in paediatric fatty liver disease (Measuring blood fats for a ‘liquid biopsy’ in fatty liver disease)

Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) is the most common liver condition affecting children. Currently the only method to reliably decide on patient management is by liver biopsy to determine fibrosis stage. At the moment, it is impossible to tell how severe the liver damage is without doing a liver biopsy, which is risky, expensive, and requires a general anaesthetic. This research seeks to identify methods for non-invasively assessing paediatric NAFLD.

Please view the abstract poster, kindly provided by Dr Jake Mann, which explains the research and findings so far.
