King’s College Hospital are working with Clinical Psychologists and Cognitive Behavioural Therapists based at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust to run the ‘Looking After Ourselves’ psychoeducation programme to improve the overall well-being of children and promote mental health in a fun and interactive way.
The new, online, interactive programme teaches children cognitive coping strategies and behavioural techniques to help manage difficulties and enhance resilience.
Who can take part?
This programme is online and will be offered to children between the ages of 7-11 with a physical illness who attend King’s College Hospital as an outpatient or inpatient.
More about the programme:
The online programme consists of 9 sessions and includes digital activities, videos and audio clips. Each session should take around 30 minutes to complete.
Topics covered in the sessions include – Eating well; Being active; Relaxing; Sleeping well; Noticing feelings; Making the link between thoughts, feelings and behaviour; Positive self-talk; Jumping to conclusions; Thinking traps; Managing worry.
