We were delighted to welcome 180 guests to our National Conference at the weekend (October 6 and 7). It was wonderful to see that young people and families had travelled the length and breadth of the UK to be with us in Stratford upon Avon.
With the little ones happily entertained in the creche and older children off to a (rather damp) Drayton Manor, parents were able to hear from experts on a range of topics including the latest in paediatric liver care, research highlights over the past two years and likely developments in transplant surgery.
Meet the Expert sessions over lunch gave people the chance to ask questions on specific liver diseases, whilst afternoon sessions provided an opportunity to speak directly to specialists on topics ranging from managing symptoms of chronic to liver disease to transition to adult services.
Those who decided to stay overnight were treated to a visit from William Shakespeare before enjoying an evening meal and family disco! And the next morning families enjoyed a leisurely boat trp along the River Avon.
Chief Executive, Alison Taylor, commented:”We loved seeing so many of our families and young people all together and are delighted to have had such positive feedback already. We are really greateful to the consultants, specialist nurses and psychologists who took the time to come along, speak and answer questions. It meant a great deal to our families and contributed to a fantastic weekend.”
