A Birmingham based charity is calling on local businesses to go yellow for the day by pledging their support for Big Yellow Friday on March 6.
Big Yellow Friday is the national awareness and fundraising day for Children’s Liver Disease Foundation (CLDF), who want as many Midlands companies as possible to take part in yellow themed fundraising activity, whether it’s a static bike ride, cake sale or simply wearing something yellow to work, in a bid to raise £70,000.
CLDF’s Chief Executive, Alison Taylor, commented: “Many people do not realise that liver disease affects babies and children but each week in the UK, twenty children are diagnosed. We provide these families with information and emotional support as well as funding much needed research.
“To do so, however, we rely entirely on voluntary donations and Big Yellow Friday is our key fundraising day. We have a thriving business community here in Birmingham and we’re hoping as many of them as possible will join in. It’s such a fun and easy way to provide really meaningful support to a charity on their doorstep which is often overlooked.”
It’s a view echoed by Dawn Brathwaite, partner at Mills & Reeve LLP, one of the businesses to join in with Big Yellow Friday last year, who commented: “Choosing smaller charities gives us a chance to find organisations who are doing fantastic work but going under the radar as they don’t have large machinery to give them publicity.”
