CLDF welcomes ‘game-changer’ system for liver storage

By January 22, 2019 No Comments

We welcome the news that a new system for storing livers before transplant has been approved for use on the NHS. Perfusion machines store donated livers at body temperature, rather than on ice, which slows the deterioration of the organ. It is hoped that this will lead to more patients on the waiting list being offered the chance of a liver transplant. This is an initiative we are in full support of and had actively lobbied NICE to make this system available throughout the NHS. It’s great to see a positive outcome. See the full story HERE.
