Big congratulations to Lauren Barton, who has just published her first book of poetry.
Lauren has been a wonderful supporter of CLDF for several years, both through her B+ range of leisure clothing which is available here https://bpositivemollie.co.uk/ and through the annual sponsored walk which she and her family arrange in memory of her sister Mollie who tragically passed away six years’ ago, whilst awaiting a liver transplant.
Lauren admits, however, that publishing her own poetry was a nerve-wracking step:
“Writing has always been a really cathartic form of expression for me and really one of the only few places I feel I can be my most honest and authentic self. During lockdown, I began sifting through all my writings over the past years and try to piece them together. As I was doing so, I realised there was a strong theme and a clear journey. My sister and her passing are a profound reason why this book came to life, so I guess she was my biggest inspiration.
“Because writing has always been my way of processing how I felt, this book feels more like a diary which makes it very scary to share! However, if it helps others who are going through a tough time or is just insightful for others, then I’ll be really pleased.”
