Neston mums plan a Big Yellow Party for a very special cause

Four  mums from Neston are putting on a Big Yellow Night Out this Friday night (March 29) to raise funds for Children’s Liver Disease Foundation.  The charity is an important one to Tash Hudson, Lori Coombes, Suzanne Baird and Alex Cooper as Alex’s five year-old daughter Imogen was born with the rare liver disease, biliary atresia. Although she had life-saving surgery when she was just five weeks old, her liver began to deteriorate last year and in October she was placed on the transplant waiting list.

“We were lucky that we didn’t have to wait long. Our brave little Imogen received her transplant in December and hasn’t looked back since,” says Alex. “We are eternally grateful for the gift given to us by another family at such a difficult time.”

While Alex was in hospital with Imogen, Tash, Lori and Suzanne had the idea of throwing a party to celebrate Imogen’s return home and raise funds for Children’s Liver Disease Foundation, which they know means a lot to Alex and her family.

“We took the theme from Big Yellow Friday, the charity’s national fundraising day which takes place every March” explains Lori. “This is such a supportive community, everyone wants to help. We’ve now got a buffet, a band and a DJ and some great donations for raffle prizes. We’re looking forward to a great evening. We just want to give the Cooper family a nice time after all the stress they have gone through over the past few months and to raise as much as we can for a charity which has been there for them all along.”

Alison Taylor, Chief Executive of Children’s Liver Disease Foundation commented: “CLDF is the only UK charity dedicated to fighting all childhood liver diseases, by providing information and emotional support, funds for research and a voice for all those affected. In order to do this however, we rely almost entirely on voluntary donations, so we’re delighted to hear what Alex and her friends have planned. It’s great news that Imogen is doing so well and we hope they have a fabulous evening.”

The Big Yellow Party takes place on March 29 at Neston Civic Hall. Tickets, priced £15, are available from the Civic Hall or from Mozkitos café in Neston.
