We hope to be just as fortunate again

Organ Donation Week is especially important to Sebastian’s parents as his mum explains:

Sebbie has biliary atresia and it was clear quite early on that his Kasai had failed and we were looking at a transplant.

He was listed at five months and although he only had to wait five weeks for his liver, we had a really scary time towards the end as he was so poorly that we were warned he might not get one in time. Thankfully he made it. He received his transplant when he was six months old. He’s currently enjoying life just as he should be and we’re looking forward to celebrating his second birthday in December.

However, due to ongoing biliary complications that cannot be resolved with surgery, it was sadly decided last month to relist him for a subsequent transplant. This does not take away how endlessly grateful we are to Sebbie’s donor and their family for saving his life and getting him this far. We hope to be just as fortunate again.
